A Few Kind words from Girls, Guns, and Monsters Clients |
|
J. is the most professional painter I have worked with to date. The way he treats his customers, you would think this was his full time job, and not just a hobby. He really is not happy with a piece until you are, and will do whatever he needs to make it an awesome paint up.
J. has completed one piece for me, and I enjoyed working with him so much I have six kits already lined for him to work on.
He is very engaged with the customer from the first contact about pricing until after you receive your piece back. I usually give him a picture of the kit, pictures of the characters, and if they are available pictures of the kit painted up by someone else. I will then let him know what I want, and he usually comes back with ideas that improve on my original request or neat ideas I never thought of or knew about.
With some painters you won’t hear from them for months, and sometimes you have to be the one to ask for progress reports. J. lets you know where he is with every step of the process. Once you send him a kit he sets up a login for you on his web page. Every customer has a page that only they can see where he puts up each clients in progress pictures. More than the pictures though, he gives updates and puts suggestions for the piece so you can see exactly what he is talking about. If you think something needs to be changed or different he has no problem doing it at any point in the process.
His pricing is excellent. On my first piece he quoted me a price for a full size before he saw the kit. He later told me that it was bigger than he thought, or he would have charged more, but he was standing by his price.
He really loves doing this and you can tell when you talk to him and when you get the piece. Even though you’ll see pictures all through the process they do not hold a candle to how the piece looks in real life. I thought mine was excellent from the pictures, but was blown away when I got it back.
J. will assemble the piece to the point that it can ship safely. If there is any assembly you need to do when you get it home he will give you detailed instructions and check in with you to make sure everything is okay. I have no trouble highly recommending Girls, Guns, and Monsters to anyone. J. is a great guy and you’ll enjoy working with him.

I am not a novice when it comes to the kit building hobby. I have used many builders/painters in the past and not always a great experience. That is until I used J. and his remarkable talents.
J. has done eight pieces for me to date and everyone has turned out above my expectations. He is in constant communication and always has some helpful suggestions for your project. He tends to take what you want and expand it to something even better. I have been 110% satisfied with every project he has done for me.
I have complete faith in J. that any kit from any genre that I send him will be done with the utmost professionalism. He studies every aspect of the subject to make sure even the smallest details are covered and correct.
I have never had a kit arrive to me broken in shipping. J. takes the utmost care in packaging and shipping your kit to you. So from your initial contact to the arrival of your piece, the experience will be an outstanding experience. It has been and will continue to be for me.

ATTENTION: All you kit collectors searching for a master modeler to build and paint your prized piece. . .look no further!
J. Johnston at Girls, Guns and Monsters is the best in the business. First off, this guy is completely honest. He tells you up front exactly how his service works and how much it will cost. His prices are reasonable and he absolutely sticks to his quote, no matter what happens during the build.
Also, J.'s service is unique in that he posts detailed photos of your kit's progress on his website, allowing you multiple opportunities to provide input and suggestions. Unlike other builders out there, who basically take your money, do their work in private then tell you when the kit is ready to ship, J. facilitates your active participation in the creative process. As you watch your figure take shape, it's almost as much fun as building the kit yourself!
Finally, J. is a total perfectionist. He goes after the smallest detail and won't be satisfied until you are. I can be very picky about minor issues, but he almost always anticipated my questions and came up with solutions I hadn't even considered.
One day after I received my finished piece (and was totally blown away!) I shipped J. my next build project. After seeing the quality of his work, I can't imagine ever using anybody else!

J. at Girls, Guns, and Monsters is a consummate professional in the garage kit hobby. Every aspect of the services he provides is top notch. I have had J. do several kits for me and they have all come out great. He is currently painting another of my kits and I plan to send him several more.
J. is very versatile. He can paint up any type of subject matter and make it look fantastic! I have seen his work bench and was amazed to see all of the different type of kits he was working on.
J. isn’t happy unless you are and takes each kit very seriously. He works hard to understand what you want and does his homework on each piece he assembles and paints. Constant communication is a strength of J.’s and he provides several work in progress pictures to assure you are updated on the project. J. sets up a WIP gallery on the GGM web site for all of his customers’ projects and emails once he has posted new pics. This is a great service that is the best I have seen in the hobby.
J. takes as much care when packing up your kits as he does in putting them together – top notch service all the way around. J.’s prices are a great deal for the service provided – I would strongly suggest giving him a try. I have several pieces done by J. proudly displayed in my collection – a trend I plan to continue.
